She sang her ass off... it was incredible. Their management approved me to shoot their entire set, but HOB screwed me over. :( Hopefully, when they come back, they'll play a different venue. I would not have gotten tired of taking photos of that band.

Great photos, Misery. Why did HOB change their mind?

HOB didn't change their mind, they were always butts... and cited a "house security rule" that the production manager didn't want any photographers up front after three songs. They usually do that because of crowd surfers, and if there are no crowd surfers (there weren't, all night. Not that type of crowd) there isn't a safety issue. Lacuna Coil's management had approved me for it two weeks ago, so I was excited. But HOB's done this sort of thing to be before. I was supposed to shoot all of a friend's set, they had agreed, then suddenly threw me out anyway. :P

They also had HORRIBLE lighting. JUST HORRIBLE. For THREE SONGS. Then the white lights came on too. Except Dommin. No white at all until flashes on their last song. The stage was soaked mainly in red (mainly red) or green backlighting most of the time. Every lighting tech should know what that does to a digital cameras sensors, but all 3 SoCal HOBS do it every time. 3 songs that guarantee your photos will be a dark red haze. They have a band of lights in front of the stage but never use more than one at most. You wouldn't believe how much I had to touch these up (except the 5th one, although the rest of his shots you can't even see his face)

I can only imagine that you don't like having to shoot at these venues. It doesn't make any damn sense, if they are only going to allow photogs up there for 3 songs, why not give the best lighting possible for it? I'm sure it can be achieved without whitewashing the stage.
